TEACHING PLAN

The SD Katolik Pelangi uses the Merdeka Curriculum. Merdeka Curriculum uses a project basis to strengthen the achievement of the Pancasila student profile. This project was developed based on a certain theme determined by the government. The project is not directed to achieve certain learning achievement targets, so it is not tied to subject content.

The main characteristics of the Independent Curriculum that differentiate it from other curricula are:

  1. Focus on essential material so that learning is deeper.

  2. More time for competency and character development through group learning in real contexts (Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project).

  3. Learning outcomes per phase and flexible lesson hours.

  4. Provide flexibility for educators and support for teaching tools and training materials to develop educational unit curricula.

  5. Prioritize mutual cooperation with all parties to support the implementation of the Independent Curriculum.

An educator must be prepared with a lesson plan in order to be guided when teaching the students. Before my teaching demonstration, I used the project-based learning lesson plan. In this lesson plan, it starts with knowing who your students are in order to recognize and cater to their needs during the discussion.

Next, state the discipline, which in my case is teaching science and social. Afterwards, I stated the goals you want to achieve according to P5 (Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project), and I stated collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity. Then, proceed to state the objective that the teacher and students need to achieve by the end of the discussion.

There are 6 parts in the project based lesson plan and these are:

(1) Essential Question - The essential question is like a guide question to motivate the student’s attention to think. This will lead them to seek the answer throughout the discussion which they can answer it by the end of the discussion.

(2) Activity using Project Based Learning - It is about bringing up a relevant current topic or asking related questions to arouse an interest for the work.

(3) Ideation - it is the part where teachers create an environment for the students to come up with different solution ideas. The teacher may lead them to asking related questions.

(4) Product Development- It is where students need time to prepare a prototype. The teacher should give the students enough time to prepare their prototype product as a group by paying attention to constraints.

(5) Refinement - At this stage, students should test their prototype products.

(6) Disseminate and reflect - At the end of the work, students should display their prototype products. After the display of the prototype, it is time to reflect about the discussion and answer the essential question that was asked in the first place.

Afterwards, the teacher will need to prepare an assessment for the student in order to know if the student listens throughout the discussion. This will help the teacher to know in which part the teacher needs to improve during the discussion so that the teacher can implement a strategy to teach the students and gain a better performance.
