TEACHING PRACTICE

September 15, 2023, was the date of my final teaching demo. The initial plan is to use a PowerPoint presentation, but days before my final teaching demo, I observed that the electricity in our school is unstable, which led me to use the traditional materials, which are cartolinas, markers, and printed pictures.
Before the start of my discussion, I let my students guess the pictures that I printed which are the animals that belonged to the food web. This is a form of motivation activity so that the students are energized before the start of the discussion. After the motivational activity, I proceeded to my discussion proper about the food web. As I started my discussion, the students were active in answering the questions I asked them and participated throughout the discussion.

After the discussion, we proceeded to the activity time, in which I divided the class into two groups. In the activity, the students are tasked with the food web together with their group mates. I gave them pictures of the plants and animals, and they needed to create it by drawing arrows as connectors to create a food web.

When they finished the task, I asked each group to present their work to the class and they presented it with 4 group members in front. The class listened very well to the reporters and shared their ideas about the food web they created.

Before ending the discussion, they took an assessment test to test what they have learned during the discussion. Also, I took the opportunity to summarize and review the students about the topic. I ask them essential questions related to the importance of studying food web.
